THE North Suburban Community Cricket Association (NSCCA) is a senior cricket competition, located in the North Western suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. It was founded as the Wanneroo Cricket Association in 1977, and changed its name to the NSCCA in 2008. The constitutional objective of the NSCCA is to encourage and foster the game of cricket in every way possible. In season 2023/2024, the NSCCA comprised 18 affiliated clubs and an Umpires Association.
 

The clubs are;  Ballajura-Landsdale, Cavaliers, Edgewater, Joondalup Kinross, Karrinyup, Kingsley-Woodvale, Kingsway, Leederville, Marmion, Morley, Muchea, Osborne Park, Quinns Rocks, Sorrento Duncraig, Wanneroo, Warwick-Greenwood, West Coast and Yanchep. In total, 78 teams play in 13 grades of 6 teams.

 

The competition consists of 10 one-day games and 5 two-day games. The season runs from the first week of October till mid- March. The competition comprises Grades A-M. Games are played on Saturday afternoons, however, due to technology, day/night games are becoming popular.

 

There are two leagues, a one-day league, in which the top two teams in every grade play in a one-day final. The there is a Grand Final which after the top four teams have played in semi-finals the winners play in the Grand Final.

There is also a traditional knock-out competition played between the clubs, known as the Patrons Cup. This is a Twenty Over Knock Out Competition.

The management of the Association is vested in its elected Executive Committee. The Executive Committee consists of the President, Senior Vice-President, Junior Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Registrar, Umpires Advisor, Cricket West Match Committee Delegate, a Web Master, and a minimum of six elected Executive Members.
 

All games in the NSCCA are played predominately on reserves throughout the City of Joondalup, the City of Wanneroo, the City of Stirling, and Swan Shire Council. The Association enjoys the ongoing support of these local government organizations. It also enjoys the ongoing support of the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA), the peak cricket body in WA.
 

The NSCCA is linked to the WACA and Cricket Australia as an affiliated member of the Cricket West. Cricket West is made up of the four metropolitan community cricket associations, including the NSCCA, Perth Swan Cricket Association (PSCA), South Metropolitan Cricket Association (SMCA), and West Australian Suburban Turf Cricket Association (WASTCA).
 

As part of its Cricket West affiliation, NSCCA players compete in the Cricket West Cup each season. Three teams from the NSCCA compete in the seniors, colts, and veterans’ competitions. The Cricket West Cup provides NSCCA players with the opportunity to compete against other talented players from these leagues, in a higher level of competition. It also encourages younger players to consider pursuing their capabilities at a higher level.
 

The objects of Cricket West are; to encourage and foster the game of Cricket in every way possible; promote and control inter-Association competition between the Metropolitan Cricket Associations outside of the WACA District Competition; to control and manage all teams representing Cricket West; and to provide facilities for the competitions within its power.
 

Its membership is made up of the respective Presidents from the PSCA, SMCA, WASTCA and NSCCA. Also, an employee from the WACA Cricket Department is appointed to act in the role of Cricket West Match Committee Secretary. The Cricket West Match Committee is made up of the Cricket West Match Committee Secretary and delegates from each of the five associations. Each Association provides a delegate to the Cricket West Match Committee to help determine the running of the Cricket West Cup competition.
 

Teams from Cricket West, including the NSCCA, also compete in the WACA’s annual State-Wide 20-20 competition.
